A primary suspect in death of hazing victim Castillo to return to PHL today

(Eagle News) — One of the primary suspects in the death of University of Sto. Tomas law freshman student Horacio Castillo III is set to return to the country today.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre III said Ralph Trangia, who fled to the United States on Sept. 21,  will be returning with his mother before noon.

He said he will be coming from Taipei via Eva Air flight B3 271.

Estimated time of arrival (ETA) is 11:20 a.m., he said.

Trangia, an official of the Aegis Juris fraternity which is believed to have held the hazing rites that led to Castillo’s death, was one of three named by the police as primary suspects.

Another primary suspect, Trangia’s father, Antonio, was the registered owner of the vehicle that was used to take Castillo to the hospital.

The third primary suspect, John Paul Solano, surrendered to Senator Panfilo Lacson, and is now out on bail.

The Manila Police District also named other officials of the fraternity enrolled in UST as  suspects.

The younger Trangia, his father, Solano and 14 others are facing complaints for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law, murder, among others, in connection with Castillo’s death.

Trangia’s mother also faces an obstruction of justice charge.

Castillo’s parents have also included UST Faculty of Civil Law dean Nilo Divina in the charge sheet.
