(Eagle News)–Soon, the government will be using an app to help decongest checkpoints amid the enhanced community quarantine, the Department of Science and Technology said.
In a statement, Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said the Rapidpassph, a virtual identification system developed by Developers Connect (DevCon Philippines) that utilizes QR-code based technology, was approved for use by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on Friday, March 27.
On the same day, the system was tested within Mandaluyong area.
Under the system, Dela Peña said people classified as “Authorized Persons Outside of Residence” based on IATF guidelines must register online.
A QR code will be sent to them once approved.
“Print the QR code and place it on your car window and checkpoint personnel will scan it,” Dela Peña said.
According to Dela Peña, through the system, there will be “less contact between users and checkpoint personnel” as well.
He said the DevCon team will provide training and support to checkpoint front-liners and agencies.
“The developers of the RapidPassPH system are also working with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for field testing and operations deployment,” Dela Peña said.
Announcements on where to register online will be made on RapidPassPH’s official Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/rapidpassph/.
