Death toll at 33; 18 patients recover
(Eagle News) — The Department of Health on Monday, March 23, confirmed 16 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019, bringing the total number to 396.
According to Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire, eight additional deaths were also recorded.
With the additional fatalities, the number of deaths has reached 33.
The DOH said a total of 18 patients have recovered.
President Rodrigo Duterte has asked Congress to hold a special session to declare a national emergency and give him the “necessary powers” that are restricted and for a limited period to address the COVID-19 situation.
