(Eagle News)-President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, Jan. 13, held an aerial inspection of Taal, which continues its period of unrest, Senator Bong Go said.

Go, who accompanied Duterte on the flight from Davao to Manila, said their plane was the first to be allowed access to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which had suspended flight operations.

In a statement, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said  the President has already given orders to ensure that those within the 14-kilometer radius of Taal are safe.

He also advised them to remain alert and vigilant as volcanic tremors and earthquakes were also recorded.

The President has a scheduled activity in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig today at 4 p.m. but it has so far not been cancelled.

His scheduled trip to San Isidro, Leyte where he was supposed to meet with  returning rebels, however, was cancelled due to the ashfall from Taal. With  reports from Vic Somintac, Meanne Corvera
