(Eagle News) — The weather disturbance that was forecast to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the following days has intensified into a typhoon.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said once “Kammuri” enters PAR possibly between Saturday and Sunday morning, it will be named “Tisoy.”
PAGASA said a Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 may be raised over the eastern portion of Bicol Region-Eastern Visayas area on Sunday.
Maritime travel may also be disrupted in these areas.
The outer rainbands of “Kammuri” may also bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas on Monday, PAGASA said.
So far, PAGASA said “Kammuri” was estimated at 1,430 km east of Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of 150 kph.
“Kammuri” is moving west northwest at 10 kph.
