Due to “technical problem,” Manila-bound PAL plane makes emergency landing at LA airport

(Eagle News)–A Philippine Airlines plane had to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from the Los Angeles International Airport after reportedly suffering from a “technical problem.”

Posts on social media said a portion of the plane started spewing flames above the ground.

In a statement, PAL said PAL Flight PR 113, which departed at 11:45 a.m.,  landed safely at the LA airport fifteen minutes later  with all 342 passengers and 18 crew members safe.

PAL said the passengers were able to disembark from the plane, a Boeing 777 with registry number C7775,  using regular airstairs.

“Our operations teams are assisting the passengers and will provide medical support as needed, although there are no reports of injuries,” PAL said.

PAL said the passengers have also been given meals and a hotel accommodation while the airline makes arrangements to rebook them on alternative flights to Manila.

“We affirm that safety is our top priority and that Philippine Airlines is fully cooperating with the concerned airport and aviation authorities,” PAL said.
