(Eagle News)–Severe Tropical Storm “Sarah” has weakened as it moved toward the Southern Ryukyus.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said no tropical cyclone signal warning is hoisted over any area with “Sarah” forecast to no longer bring significant rainfall to the country.
As of 4 a.m., the center of “Sarah” was estimated 345 kilometers northeast of Basco, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
“Sarah” is moving north at 20 kph, and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility between tonight and tomorrow morning.
Gusts, however, may still be experienced today over Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.
Sea travel remains risky especially for small sea craft over the seaboards of Northern Luzon due to prevailing rough sea conditions caused by the northeast monsoon.
As of 4 a.m., the remnant low pressure area of Tropical Depression “Ramon” is already outside PAR, PAGASA said.
