Parts of Cagayan under Signal No. 3 as “Ramon,” which has made landfall, continues to move inland

(Eagle News)–Signal No. 3 remains hoisted over portions of Cagayan as Typhoon “Ramon,” which has made landfall in Santa Ana, continues to move inland.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Signal No. 3 remains hoisted over  the northern portion of the province, particularly in Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Aparri, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga, Santa Ana, Allacapan, Lal-lo, Gattaran, Lasam, Baggao, Alcala, and Santo Niño.

Signal No. 2, on the other hand, is over Batanes, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and the rest of Cagayan, while the northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfin Albano, Tumauini, Divilacan, Quirino, Roxas, Mallig, San Manuel, Burgos, Gamu and Ilagan City), Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union, Pangasinan are under Signal No. 1.

PAGASA said so far, “Ramon” is packing
maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 200 kph as it moves southwest at 10 kph.

“Ramon” is is forecast to significantly weaken due to land interaction and the northeast monsoon.

Today, moderate with occasional to frequent heavy rains are expected over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands and Apayao.

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Mt. Province, Kalinga, and the northern portion of Isabela.

PAGASA said coastal flooding may be experienced in the coastal areas under Signal No. 3 and 2 due to high waves near the coast.

Sea travel is also risky, especially for small sea craft over the seaboards of areas under storm signals, the seaboard of southern Isabela, and the western seaboard of Zambales and Bataan due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.
