President Duterte to leave for ASEAN meet in Thailand on Friday

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte will push through with his flight this week to Thailand, where he will attend the 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, a Palace official said on Monday, Oct. 28.

Chief of Presidential Protocol Robert Eric Borje made the announcement days after President Duterte had to cut short his trip to Japan on Oct. 22 due to “unbearable pain in his spinal column near the pelvic bone.”

Duterte, who had figured in a motorcycle accident days before, was later cleared by his doctors who said the pain was  due to “muscle spasms.”

“But as of this time, the information that we have and the guidance that we have is the President will be joining the (ASEAN) meetings,” Borje said.
