(Eagle News)–The Palace on Monday, Oct. 7, said there was no need to worry about President Rodrigo Duterte’s health.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in an interview over ANC that myasthenia gravis, after all, was a common disease among the elderly.
The President revealed he had the disease in a meeting with the Filipino community in Moscow, Russia, where he was on official visit.
He returned to the country on Sunday, Oct. 6.
The United States National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke said myasthenia gravis is “a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes weakness in the skeletal muscles.”
While there is no cure for the disease, the institute said there were therapies that enabled the patient to live a high quality of life.
According to Panelo, despite his age, the President could cope with his hectic schedule.
“I am even amazed how he was able to survive this Russian trip. My God, we flew to this, Sochi. Pagdating doon, trabaho kaagad tapos balik ka nanaman,” Panelo said.
