Senate approves release of contents of executive session on “ninja cops”

(Eagle News)–The Senate has approved the disclosure by the Senate justice  and blue ribbon panels of what was discussed during an executive session on so-called ninja cops, or policemen allegedly involved in the recycling of illegal drugs.

It was Senator Ronald dela Rosa who motioned for the disclosure, citing what he said was the unfair dragging of the name of Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde in the scheme.

Dela Rosa has stood by Albayalde, and vouched for his integrity.

It was former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Benjamin Magalong, who had been invited by the panels as a resource speaker in their probe into the problems in the Bureau of Corrections, who asked for the executive session where he could reveal the names of what he said were  high-ranking former and current police officials who were engaged in the so-called “agaw-bato” scheme.

Earlier, Senator Bong Go, who was present in the executive session, said President Rodrigo Duterte himself would reveal the names after “cross-checking” of information. With a report from Meanne Corvera
