Lacson says he received reports BuCor legal unit chief “jamming” with Chinese drug lords at Bilibid’s Building 14

(Eagle News)–Senator Panfilo Lacson on Monday, Sept. 9, said he has received reports the head of the Bureau of Corrections’ legal unit was “jamming” with convicted Chinese drug lords in the New Bilibid Prison’s Building 14.

Lacson made the revelation after he asked Frederick Anthony Santos point-blank if he had ever used illegal drugs before.

Santos replied in the negative.

“Not once in your lifetime..? Baka makakuha kami ng ebidensya… pakita ko baka lying ka na naman,” Lacson said, to which Santos again replied no.

“’I’m going to get that evidence, I almost had it. I’m telling you,” the senator added.

Earlier, Santos said he had informed sacked- BuCor director-general Nicanor Faeldon of the existence of Department of Justice Order No. 953, which says high-risk convicts could not be released without the approval of the justice secretary.

Faeldon denied he had received such information.

The Senate joint panel is holding an inquiry into the GCTA law following the release of convicts of heinous crimes and the near-release of former Calauan, Laguna Mayor Antonio Sanchez, who was convicted of the murder and rape of Eileen Sarmenta and of the murder of her friend Allan Gomez in the 1990s.
