Signal No. 2 hoisted over three areas as “Jenny” intensifies into a tropical storm

(Eagle News)–Tropical Depression “Jenny” has intensified into a tropical storm as it continues to move toward Central Luzon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said “Jenny,” which is located 360 kilometers east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte or 490 km east of Infanta, Quezon, is forecast to make landfall in Aurora tonight or tomorrow early morning.

Signal No. 2 is hoisted over Isabela, Aurora and Quirino, while Signal No. 1 is in place in Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, Cavite, Laguna, Camarines Norte, the northeastern portion of Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.

Between this morning and tonight, PAGASA said intermittent to frequent moderate to heavy rains will be experienced over Bicol Region, Samar Provinces, Quezon, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Isabela and Cagayan.

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains, on the other hand, will affect Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and the regions of Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro.

Areas under Signal No. 2 are advised to take precautionary measures against potentially strong winds, PAGASA said.

Occasional gusty conditions, on the other hand, may occur over areas under Signal No. 1.

Occasional gusty conditions may also occur in Visayas and other areas of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon, the weather bureau said.

Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under a storm signal due to potentially rough sea conditions.
