(Eagle News)–Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Metro Manila as Tropical Depression “Jenny” moves in a westward direction on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Apart from Metro Manila, Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, Cavite, Laguna, Camarines Norte, northeastern portion of Camarines Sur and Catanduanes, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

As of 7 a.m., the center of “Jenny”  was estimated 440 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte, packing maximum sustained  winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

It is expected to make landfall over Aurora tonight or tomorrow early morning.

PAGASA said between this morning and tonight, intermittent to frequent moderate to heavy rains will be experienced over Bicol Region, Samar Provinces, Quezon, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Isabela and Cagayan.

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will affect Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and the regions of Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro.

Areas under signal no. 1 are advised to take precautionary measures against potentially strong winds.

Meanwhile, occasional gusty conditions may also occur in Visayas and other areas of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said.

Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under a signal due to potentially rough sea conditions.
