LPA spotted off E. Samar to develop into tropical depression in next 12 hours

(Eagle News)–The low pressure area spotted off Eastern Samar is expected to turn into a tropical depression in the next 12 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA said once it develops into such, it will be named “Jenny,” and a Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1 will be immediately raised over the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas.

As of  10 a.m. , the LPA was located 675 kilometers east northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or 790 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.

A thunderstorm advisory has also been hoisted over several areas, with moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds expected over Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Bataan,  and Pampanga within the next two hours.

These conditions are being experienced in Bulacan, particularly in Doña Remedios Trinidad and Norzagaray; in Laguna, particularly in Mabitac, Santa Maria and Paete; in Rizal, particularly in Rodriguez, Antipolo; in Quezon, particularly in Real and Mauban; and in Batangas, particularly in Santo Tomas, Malvar, San Juan and Rosario, which may persist within two hours and may affect nearby areas.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” PAGASA said.
