(Eagle News) — Former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario was held upon his arrival in Hong Kong on Friday, June 21, Consul-General Antonio Morales said.
“Para po siyang ordinary traveler, kaya lang po ang immigration parang nagtatagal. Hindi pa po tinatatakan ang kanyang passport,” Morales said in an interview over radio dzbb.
According to Morales, he had written Hong Kong immigration about Rosario’s arrival, and asked it to give him “consideration.”
He said Hong Kong immigration, however, did not reply.
“Humigit kumulang na isang oras siya andun,” he said.
Del Rosario is one of two complainants in the communication filed against Chinese President Xi Jinping over China’s activities in the South China Sea.
The other complainant, former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, was also held at the Hong Kong airport a month ago upon her arrival with her family for a vacation.
Morales was subsequently allowed to enter Hong Kong but she opted not to do so.
