(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte is “working on” increasing the salary of teachers, the Palace said on Monday, June 3.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said this was, however, “easier said done.”
“Because even if you issue an executive order if there is no funding source, baka lalong may problema tayo. So, we’ll have to get some funding first,” Panelo said.
Panelo said “our economic managers are doing everything to see how things can be done.”
“But you must remember that the mother of the President was a teacher and so his heart is with the teachers,” he said.
Teachers have been asking for an increase in pay, especially after Duterte doubled the salaries of uniformed personnel.
But the President has said he was still looking for funds for the salary hike for teachers.
