Bam Aquino issued this statement on Friday, May 17, the fourth day he figured still outside the Senate winning circle based on partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections transparency server.
In a Facebook post, Aquino, the highest-ranking Otso Diretso bet in the Senate race so far in 14th place, said he had wanted to issue the statement after the official end of the counting of votes, but changed his mind because “so many friends are asking how I am.”
He sent “love love love and gratitude to all those sending their messages of support!” and noted that “hindi mauubos ang pagmamahal ko sa ating mga kababayan maganda man o hindi ang resulta ng eleksyon.”
He urged the public, however, to “continue praying for me, better yet, please continue praying for and loving our country.”
Based on the partial and unofficial results as of 2:02 p.m., reelectionist senator Cynthia Villar continued to lead the pack, with 25,039,000 votes, followed by another reelectionist senator, Grace Poe, with 21,863,184 votes.
The Comelec had said they were hoping to finish the canvassing of votes this week.
Sources have said invites for the proclamation rites “tentatively” set on Sunday, May 19, have been sent to some candidates in the Senate winning circle.
