President Duterte to Paolo, Sara, Baste: The sooner you get out of politics, the better

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has a piece of advice for his children: “The earlier they go out of politics, the better.”

The President made the remark when told his children with Elizabeth Zimmerman were poised to win the midterm elections, as they are running virtually unopposed: Sara Duterte is running for reelection as mayor of Davao and Paolo Duterte as 1st district Davao City congressman.

Sebastian Duterte is the lone candidate seeking the post of Davao vice mayor.

Duterte went on to counsel his daughter Sara, who has been urged to run for President when he steps down in 2022.

“Inday, I am publicly warning her. The presidency will not educate you. It will destroy you,” he said.

He noted what he said were the “paid hacks” and “hyena” in media, who he said know themselves that they dish out lies.

“They proclaim they are the victims…Of their own making yan. When the ruling is here, ayaw nila tanggapin. Then the idiots of the Western world start to give you ..may awards na,” he said, apparently referring to Rappler, whose certificate of incorporation was revoked by the Securities and Exchange Commission, citing the media outfit’s violation of the constitutional restriction on media ownership.

Its executive editor Maria Ressa was recently named one of Time’s most influential people.

“This is a crazy world,” he said.
