Palace says Andaya’s statement DBM did not set aside funds for BOL plebiscite “misplaced, without basis”

(Eagle News) — The Palace on Tuesday, Jan. 15, slammed House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr.’s statement the Department of Budget and Management had failed to set aside funds for the conduct of a plebiscite for the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Andaya’s statement was “misplaced” and “without basis” in the first place.

“There are funds for the plebiscite,” Panelo said of the event, which is slated on Jan. 21 and Feb. 6.

According to Panelo, if there had been no sufficient funds for the plebiscite, it should have been moved.

Panelo said Andaya may have been “misinformed.”

Earlier, Panelo said President Rodrigo Duterte would attend a pro-BOL assembly in Cotabato ahead of the plebiscite.

Duterte has been a vocal supporter of the BOL, saying it was the only way peace could be attained in Mindanao.
