(Eagle News)–The Palace on Friday, Dec. 28, called on the public to be vigilant as “Usman” nears landfall over Eastern Visayas.
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo urged the public to “monitor the situation through news and announcements from pertinent national and local government agencies.”
According to Panelo, based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, as of Friday morning, the Department of Social Welfare and Development had P1,274,278,561.78 worth of food packs, funds and other items on standby.
In Regions VI, VII and XI, on the other hand, Panelo said the Department of Health had prepositioned P7,331,273.66 worth of logistics based on the agency’s report.
PAGASA said in its recent bulletin that “Usman,” which was expected to intensify into a tropical storm prior to its landfall, was on track to hit Eastern Samar on Friday night.
“Usman” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility between Sunday, Dec. 30, and Monday, Dec. 31, PAGASA said.
