Duterte visits Batocabe’s wake; reward money for info leading to the arrest of those behind his killing reaches P50 million

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, Dec. 27, visited the wake of Rep. Rodel Batocabe, whom authorities said may have been killed due to politics.

During his visit to the wake in Albay, the President also announced he had increased the bounty for any information about the gunmen to P50 million.

Earlier, lawmakers raised a P30-million reward money.

The President refused to provide details about the case, but hinted at the killing being politically motivated.

“But my favorite name now is mayor. But I’m not saying who that mayor is,” he said.

Batocabe had filed his certificate of candidacy for the mayoral post in Daraga, Albay in the 2019 elections.

He was supposed to go against the incumbent Mayor Carlwyn Baldo.

Batocabe was killed over the weekend, as he was about to board his vehicle from a gift-giving activity.

His bodyguard, SP01 Orlando Diaz, was also killed.
