Duterte wants Daraga, Albay under Comelec control

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, Dec. 26, urged the Commission on Elections to place Daraga, Albay under control.

The President made the recommendation following the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe, who had filed his candidacy for mayor of the town for the 2019 elections, as he visited the lawmaker’s wake.

“But if you are the one na gumagawa ng kalokohan, pinapatay ‘yung mga kalaban, p***** *na mo pupuntahan kita dito. I will personally confront you,” Duterte said.

Earlier, Senator Panfilo Lacson called on the police to implement stricter gun control measures, while Senator Richard Gordon called on the police to arrest what he said was the “culture of violence.”

Areas under Comelec control are subjected to the supervision of the poll body.

These include the military officers, among others, in the area concerned.

Batocabe was shot dead as he was about to board his vehicle from a gift-giving activity on Saturday, Dec. 22.

His bodyguard, SP01 Orlando Diaz, was also killed.
