(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, Sept. 7, suggested his daughter Davao Mayor Sara Duterte could succeed him in the future.
“Kung di man ako makabayad sa inyo, andiyan man si Inday. Mayor man siya… she might be… in the future, pwede niyong malapitan. Inday is good. Marunong. Marunong sumipa, marunong sa lahat,” Duterte said in a speech before the Filipino community in Jordan.
Duterte noted that his daughter was the “alpha” in their family.
“Yung tigas tigas. Mula maliit hanggang lumaki…siya lang kasi ang babae,” he said.
The Davao mayor has been very vocal about certain issues, never mincing words against individuals who criticize her father and the administration.
She called out then-Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez after he called her a member of the opposition following her launch of the regional political party Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Alvarez was later replaced by Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, in an ouster move done on the same day President Duterte held his third State of the Nation Address.
Earlier, Duterte also belittled the leadership capabilities of Vice President Leni Robredo, saying he preferred the likes of Senator Chiz Escudero and former Senator Bongbong Marcos to succeed him.
