Grab to roll out feature that will hide passengers’ destinations from drivers before booking acceptance

(Eagle News) — Some Grab Philippines drivers will no longer see the destination of a prospective passenger unless the booking is accepted starting Friday, April 27.

Grab Philippines made the announcement on Tuesday, April 23, following complaints about abusive Grab drivers who choose whom to accept as their passengers.

According to Brian Cu, Grab country manager,  25 percent of Grab drivers who, based on records, have a low acceptance rate will initially have the new feature.

He said this, however, will not apply if the Grab driver is taking passengers in the wee hours of the morning.

“We will never compromise safety and we will always put the welfare of our drivers and passengers first,” Cu said.

Earlier, Grab announced it had sanctioned around 500 drivers for their unjustified cancellations of bookings.
