USTAAI president resigns amid award brouhaha; “Let’s all move on,” Uson tells bashers

(Eagle News) — The president of the University of Sto. Tomas Alumni Association Inc. resigned on Tuesday night, following the brouhaha over the body’s conferment of an award for government service to Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson.

“As head of USTAAI, President Henry Tenedero humbly takes full responsibility of (sic) what has happened, thus, tendering his resignation,” the USTAAI said in a statement.

Even then, the USTAAI said it would not “rescind the recognition already conferred.”

The alumni award for government service was given to many individuals working in government, but only the conferment of the award to Uson drew the ire of several individuals in the UST community.

On Tuesday night, Uson revealed she tried to return the award to USTAAI but she was told by Tenedero that the body would not change its mind about the conferment.

“Hindi ko lamang ito isinapubliko dahil sobrang nao-OA na ako sa ilang Thomasians sa pagpapalaki ng issue na ito. Tama na ang drama at pag-usapan natin ang mahahalagang bagay tulad ng pagtulong sa mga naturukan ng Dengvaxia at panagutin ang mga may sala dito,” she said in a Facebook post.

“Let’s all move on at tumulong tayo sa ating mga kababayan,” she added.
