MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — Labor Secretary Silvestre Abello III encouraged employers to introduce policies and programs to its employees that will promote a drug-free work place.
Under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Order No. 53-03, all private establishments must promulgate their own drug abuse policies and programs to combat the use of illegal drugs.
In accordance with Order No. 53-03, employers are obliged to send their employees for random drug testing in compliance to the rules and regulations of the Department of Health (DOH).
According to Abello, the use of illegal substance or drug dependency not only affects the health and well-being of an individual but also affects the growth of the economy in general.
