MANILA, July 17 (PNA) — While typhoon “Glenda” is wrecking havoc on a large part of the country, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in its 11 a.m. update Wednesday, said that 6,551 seagoing passengers have been stranded in various ports nationwide.
According to the Coast Guard, strong winds and big waves prompted the suspension of sailing of ships weighing less than 1,000 gross register tons, resulting in the immobilization of 614 rolling cargoes, 37 ships and 24 bancas.
Most of the stranded passengers and cargoes were reported from all major ports of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.
