6 killed, 1 hurt in Caloocan fire

(Eagle News)–Six people were killed and another was critically hurt in a fire that hit a house in Caloocan on Sunday, June 23.

Senior Insp. Michael Jacinto, chief of the intelligence and investigation unit of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Caloocan, identified the fatalities in the fire in Phase 8-b package 5, Block 59, Lot 6 as Eduardo Roxas, 8; Robert Basas, 10; Langguy Basas, 4; JP Basas, 2; Niño Basas, 3 monts old; and Maricel Roxas, 33.

Their charred bodies were found in the back part of the house where their room was.

Benedict Basas, 13, sustained second-degree burns and remains in the Tala General Hospital.

The fire, believed due to an unattended candle, struck around 3 a.m., and damaged around P20,000 worth of property.

Authorities said the house had no electricity and relied on a lamp for light. Earlo Bringas
