5.0-magnitude quake hits N. Cotabato

(Eagle News)–A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck North Cotabato on Friday, Oct. 11.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 27 kilometers southwest of Makilala at 9:55 a.m.

Depth of focus was 16 kilometers.

The following intensities were reported:

Intensity IV – Kidapawan City
Intensity III – Pikit, South Cotabato

The following were the instrumental  intensities:

Intensity V – Kidapawan City
Intensity III – Tupi, South Cotabato
Intensity II – Alabel, Sarangani; Davao City
Intensity I – Kiamba, Sarangani; General Santos City

No damage to property was recorded, but aftershocks were recorded.
