1370 policemen with ties to candidates in their areas given new assignments

(Eagle News)–Over 1000 policemen have been given new assignments because of their links with candidates running in their areas of jurisdiction, the Philippine National Police said on Wednesday, March 6.

According to PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde, the 1370 were linked by blood or by affinity to those bets.

“As a non-partisan and deputized law enforcement agency of the Commission on Elections, we strongly and firmly remain faithful to our apolitical mandate to ensure and protect the will of the electorate towards honest, orderly and peaceful elections,” Albayalde said.

According to the PNP, the 1370 are part of the 1858 policemen who have links to some candidates running in the May polls.
