P26-M worth of agriculture, 113 houses damaged by ‘Lawin’ in CAR – NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 113 houses were damaged by Lawin in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), including six houses that were totally damaged and 107 others that were partially damaged.

The agency also said that 65 barangays were flooded with waters reaching a level of up to three feet in Pangasinan and Pampanga while Regions I, III, Calabarzon, and the whole of CAR are experiencing brownouts due to broken power lines.

NDRRMC Spokesperson Romina Marasigan said electric companies are doubling its efforts to restore power in these areas immediately.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC also reported 42 road sections and four bridges in Regions I, II, III, and CAR were not passable due to flooding and landslides.

As to the typhoon’s agricultural damage, the NDRRMC said it is estimated to run up to more than P26 million in the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mt. Province — all in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
