TD “Amang” slightly accelerates as it moves closer to Caraga

(Eagle News)–Tropical Depression “Amang” has slightly accelerated as it moved closer to the Caraga region.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 10 a.m., the center of “Amang” was located 165 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 280 kilometers east southeast of Surigao City in Surigao.

“Amang” is packing maximum sustained words of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 60 kilometers per hour, and is moving west northwest at 30 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said Signal No. 1 is hoisted over  eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, eastern Bohol, northern Cebu, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands and Camiguin.

Signal No. 1 may be hoisted over northern Samar this afternoon or evening.

Beginning today, PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Caraga, northern Mindanao, eastern Visayas,  Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, northern Negros provinces, northern Cebu and Bohol.

Tomorrow, moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over eastern Visayas, Bicol and Dinagat Islands.

On Tuesday, PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over eastern Visayas and Bicol region.

Those with small seacraft and fisherfolk are advised not to venture out into seaboards in areas under Signal No. 1, the northern seaboard of northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to “Amang”  and the surge of the northeast monsoon.
