Senate committee issues subpoenas to 14 individuals affiliated with Aegis Juris fraternity

(Eagle News) — The Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs has issued subpoenas to 14 individuals affiliated with the Aegis Juris fraternity which is believed behind the death of Horacio Castillo III.

One of those made to attend the joint hearing with the Senate committees in justice and human rights on Wednesday, Oct. 18, was Ralph Trangia, who left the country on Sept. 19 after being implicated in the University of Sto. Tomas’ law freshman’s death.

Trangia, a fraternity official, returned to the country with his mother Rosemarie last week.

His father Antonio was the registered owner of the vehicle that was used to take Castillo to the hospital.

Apart from the Trangia father and son, named a primary suspect in the death of the UST student was John Paul Solano, who initially told the police he found Castillo’s body in a street corner in Tondo, Manila, but later admitted he lied.

Solano, however, already appeared before a Senate hearing and revealed the names of at least six individuals behind Castillo’s death in an executive session.

Others being subpoenaed are Arvin Balag, Aeron Salientes, Mhin Wei Chan, Mark Anthony Ventura, Oliver John Audrey Onofre, Ranie Rafael Santiago, Zimon Padro, and Joshua Joriel Macabali.

Also asked to appear were Karl Matthew Villanueva, Jose Miguel Salamat, Danielle Hans Matthew Rodrigo, Axel Munro Hipe and Marcelino Bagtang.

All fourteen have been charged with murder, robbery and violation of the Anti-Hazing Law in connection with Castillo’s death.

Castillo died of a heart attack as a result of massive trauma brought about by injuries sustained in Aegis Juris fraternity hazing rites.
