“Queenie” intensifies as it moves in northwestward direction

(Eagle News)–Typhoon “Queenie” continued to intensify as it moved northwestwards on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that as of  3 a.m., the typhoon was seen 1,250 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 190 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 235 kilometers per hour.

Although “Queenie” is not expected to make landfall, its trough will bring  cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Aurora and Quezon; and over the Cagayan Valley, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas Regions.

The rest of the country, PAGASA said, will be partly cloudy to cloudy, and will experience isolated rainshowers.

“Queenie” is expected to exit PAR on Friday, Oct. 5.
