(Eagle News) — Reelectionist senators are still included in the “long list” of names being considered to be part of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan senatorial ticket in 2019.
“Napakalayo pa natin sa final 12 but at least they are included in the long list. Wala pang nagbago,” Pimentel, president of PDP-Laban, told reporters.
President Rodrigo Duterte is PDP-Laban chair.
Pimentel made the disclosure even if some of the reelectionists—JV Ejercito, Cynthia Villar, Juan Edgardo Angara, Nancy Binay, and Grace Poe—signed the resolution that sought for a reorganization of the Senate, and for the election of Senate Majority Leader Tito Sotto.
Apart from the five, Senators Francis Escudero, Joel Villanueva, Richard Gordon, Sherwin Gatchalian, Gregorio Honasan II, Loren Legarda, Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, Ralph Recto,and Juan Miguel Zubiri signed the resolution.
On Monday, May 21, Pimentel stepped down as Senate President, and nominated Sotto as his replacement.
There were reports Pimentel had asked that he remain as Senate President until October.
