PCOO official to colleagues: Be mindful of the content you post, share online

(Eagle News) — An official from the Presidential Communications Operations Office reminded its employees and other officials to “be mindful” of what they post and share in their personal social media accounts.

Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Marie Badoy issued the reminder in a memorandum dated Aug. 13, or days after a video on federalism posted by Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson and considered offensive by some caused indignation to some sectors.

Badoy also reminded her colleagues to be careful about “other publications and press releases your office may publish.”

“As chair of the PCOO’s Gender and Development, the undersigned would like to remind you, along with all officials and employees, of our role in creating a positive impact towards gender issues and portrayal of women in the media since we play a crucial role in raising public awareness and shape (sic) public opinion,” she said.

Uson has refused to apologize for the video, saying she only wanted to raise awareness about federalism, which is being espoused by President Rodrigo Duterte.
