Palace welcomes report on slower inflation

(Eagle News)—The Palace on Wednesday, Dec. 5, welcomed the recent report inflation had eased to 6 percent, attributing the same to the measures put in place by the government.

“These measures address issues on food supply, among others, as there is a marked decrease in food inflation from 9.4 percent in October to 8 percent in November. Prices of rice, corn, fish, meat, fruits and vegetables have gone down,” Panelo said, welcoming the report as “good news.”

According to Panelo, the government will “continue to be vigilant and monitor the prices of basic goods and commodities to ensure that hunger incidence and food insecurity are eradicated.”

Earlier, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said year-on-year inflation was at 6.0 percent in November, down from the 6.7 percent recorded in October.

The PSA also noted the lower prices in food, water, gas, among others.
