“Man-Yi” continues to intensify; is forecast to enter PAR on Saturday night

(Eagle News) — Typhoon “Man-Yi” continues to intensify as it prepares to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday night, Nov. 24, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

According to Gener Quitlong, PAGASA weather specialist, as of 3 a.m., the center of “Man-Yi” was located 1400 kilometers east of southern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 145 kilometers per hour, and gustiness of up to 180 kilometers per hour.

It is moving west northwest at 25 kilometers per hour as it traverses waters, where it gets its strength, Quitlong said.

So far, Quitlong said “Man-Yi,” which will be named “Tomas” once it enters PAR, is not forecast to make landfall, but may affect seas in the eastern side of the country
