NBI files raps vs Aquino, others over Dengvaxia mess

(Eagle News)–The National Bureau of Investigation has filed  charges against former President Benigno Aquino III over the P3-billion Dengvaxia mess.

Apart from Aquino, charged with graft before the Ombudsman were former Health Secretary Janette Garin,  former Budget Secretary Florencio Abad and officials of the French firm Sanofi Pasteur, Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health.

In filing the charges the NBI said there were irregularities in the issuance of the certificate of product registration, among others.

“There was technical malversation because government funds amounting to P3 billion intended for the 2015 miscellaneous personnel benefit fund of the executive department” were used for the immunization program, the NBI said.

Over 830,000 schoolchildren were vaccinated under the program started under Aquino’s term.
