HNP denies recruiting members from nat’l parties such as PDP-Laban

HNP statement

(Eagle News)–The Hugpong ng Pagbabago has denied urging members of other national parties to join them instead.

In a statement, the Davao-based party formed by Davao Mayor Sara Duterte said that in fact, it advises its supporters outside the Davao Region to “form their own local parties or join other national parties” such as the National Unity Party, the Nacionalista Party, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan and the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

It did not make mention of some parties such as the Liberal Party.

According to HNP, it was “offering a hand of friendship to all other political parties that support the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.”

For instance, it said it “respects the history, experience and the wisdom” of the PDP-Laban and “finds it truly unfortunate” that it is “embroiled in (an) internal problem.”

A group has “elected” its new set of PDP-Laban officers, a move slammed by party president Koko Pimentel.

Pimentel said the group faces sanctions for unauthorized use of party name.

Party chair, President  Duterte, the Davao mayor’s father, recently met party members and urged them.to unite for the 2019 polls.

“If there is anything HNP can do to help PDP-Laban, our group is ready to assist them,” HNP said.
