Gadon cites “unverified” info on “oligarch” planning to give P200-M bribe to senator who votes for Sereno’s acquittal

(Eagle News) — Lawyer Larry Gadon on Saturday said he received “unverified” information an “oligarch” was planning to give a P200-million bribe to each senator who votes for Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno’s acquittal in impeachment court.

“Itong mga oligarko na ito, palaging nananalo sa mga kaso nila kay Sereno. Di ko lang mapangalanan dahil ito ay aking iniimbestigahan din,” Gadon said in a radio interview.

“Kaya pala malakas ang loob niya (Sereno) kasi pinapangakuan siya ng (oligarko),” he said.

Even then, if indeed the information is verified, Gadon said he believes senators cannot be bought because they are “dignified” and “have their own minds.”

He said if he gets verification, he will also file bribery charges against the supposed “oligarch.”

The House justice committee is holding hearings to determine whether there is probable cause for the impeachment complaint filed by Gadon against Sereno.

In the complaint, Gadon said Sereno committed 27 offenses which were tantamount to culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, other high crimes, and graft and corruption.

These offenses include the creation of a Judicial Decentralized Office in Region 7 and the alleged tampering of a draft temporary restraining order.
