De Lima can still create bills, pass laws—Pimentel

(Eagle News) — Leila De Lima can still continue her work as a senator even if she is already detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center.

This is according to Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

According to Pimentel, the lady senator can still pass and create bills while inside the detention facility.

De Lima was arrested on Friday morning, February 24, in connection with her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison when she was still the justice secretary.

Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero issued the warrant of arrest against her and her co-accused Ronnie Dayan, her alleged bagman and former lover; and former Bureau of Corrections officer in charge Rafael Ragos.

The senator is facing two other drug-related cases in Branches 205 and 206.
