EPD director, Pasay police chief relieved for command responsibility

(Eagle News)—-Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde on Wednesday, March 6, sacked a police director and a chief of police following the arrest of some of their men for alleged extortion.

Relieved were Eastern Police director Brigadier General Bernabe Balba and Pasay City Police Station commander Colonel Noel Flores for command responsibility.

Their relief took place after Corporal Marlo Siblao Quibete of the EPD’s Drug Enforcement Unit was nabbed for allegedly extorting cash from one Eva Cabansag in exchange for the dropping of cases against her live-in partner Aries Ochoada, who had been arrested, and after
Corporal Anwar Encarnacion Nasser of the Pasay station 1 DEU was also arrested in an entrapment operation for allegedly demanding P100,000 from Joan dela Torre in exchange for the release of her live-in partner George Revilla.

Nasser’s three alleged cohorts, including the unit’s officer in charge, remain at large.
