Bong Go says he is “not interested” in running for a Senate seat; says he is “committed to serve” Duterte “(until) kingdom come”

(Eagle News) — Special Assistant to the President Bong Go on Wednesday said he was “not interested in running” for a Senate seat.

Go made the statement after President Rodrigo Duterte joked during the 116th anniversary celebration of the Bureau of Customs that his closest aide of two decades would do the same.

“Joke lang ni PRRD ‘yung pagtakbo ng senador,” he said.

He said his boss made the comment “in view of my demand to the Senate to conduct a full-blown public hearing and get to the bottom of the frigate controversy.”

Go’s name was dragged in news reports citing sources he intervened in the selection for the warships’ Combat Management System.

“I’m not interested to run kasi I’m committed to serve Mayor Rody hanggang kamatayan, kung di ako mauna. Sabi ni boss mag-appear ako sa hearing,” he said, referring to the hearing to be conducted by the Upper House on the issue.

“I have dedicated my life to serving PRRD and I am committed to stand beside him (until) kingdom come,” Go said.
