Another complaint filed vs Garin over Dengvaxia death

(Eagle News) — A new complaint has been filed against former Health Secretary Janette Garin in connection with the death of a child administered with the Dengvaxia mess.

Also charged for reckless imprudence resulting in the death of John Paul Rafael and for violation of Section 15 of  the Anti-Torture Act were Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy, Dr. Irma L. Asuncion,  Dr. Vicente Belizario, Jr., Dr. Kenneth Hartigan-Go, Dr. Gerardo Bayugo, Dr. Julius Lecciones,  Mario S. Baquilod, Dr. Joyce Ducusin, Rosalind Vianzon, Dr. Socorro Lupisan, Dr. Maria Lourdes Santiago, Dr. Maria Rosario Capeding and Melody Zamudio.

Also charged were  Sanofi Pasteur Inc. and Zuellig Pharma Corporation officials.

According to the complaint, filed by Rafael’s uncle  Manuel and aunt Kristina Ramirez with the help of the Public Attorneys Office,  Rafael was administered the vaccine in March 2016, and died of congenital heart disease a month later.

The complaint said Garin and the others “arbitrarily, maliciously, and deliberately (failed) to inform the Dengvaxia recipients and their parents/families of the dangers and risks related to Dengvaxia and to obtain their informed consent.”

Dengvaxia was administered to over 800,000 schoolchildren under a national program started by former President Benigno Aquino III.
