Zamboanga City confirms first COVID-19 case

(Eagle News)–Zamboanga City has recorded its first coronavirus disease 2019 case.

Mayor Beng Climaco said the patient was a 29-year-old  male from Barangay Sinunuc who had a travel history from Metro Manila.

Climaco said the man took a Philippine Airlines flight from Metro Manila and arrived in Zamboanga City.

He manifested mild symptoms such as fever and chills on March 15.

Authorities are currently tracing the people the patient may have had contact with, including those on the flight.

The Philippines has so far recorded 552 COVID-19 cases.

Many of them, however, were confined to Luzon, where an enhanced community quarantine is in place to ensure that people, except frontliners, remain in their homes.
