Classes, work suspended in Santiago City, Isabela

(Eagle News) – -The Santiago City government in Isabela has suspended government and private work on Friday, Sept. 14, as “Ompong” threatens parts of the country. Classes were also suspended in the city, Memorandum Order 2018-42 signed by Mayor Joseph Salvador Tan  said. The suspension applies to all levels, in both public and private schools. QC gov’t announces suspension of classes in city on Monday, July 23

(Eagle News) — Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista on Thursday, July 19, announced a suspension of classes in the city on Monday, July 23. A Philippine Information Agency post said the suspension, which applies to both public and private schools, was in view of President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address. Duterte’s third SONA is slated to take place in the Batasang Pambansa.

Palace announces suspension of classes in Metro Manila on Tuesday

(Eagle News) — The Palace announced a suspension of classes in Metro Manila on Tuesday. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the decision to suspend was made by President Rodrigo Duterte himself, “in view of actual and/or imminent threats posed by some groups.” He was apparently referring to the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide, which announced it would hold another transport strike in protest of the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program soon. Abella: Gov’t work, classes to resume tomorrow, Oct. 18

(Eagle News) — Government work will resume  on Wednesday, Oct. 18. According to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, contrary to a social media post circulating online, classes in public and private schools nationwide will also resume on that day. The declaration made by the Office of the Executive Secretary, he said, applies to all levels. “For the information and guidance of all concerned,” he said.

Work in gov’t offices suspended on Tuesday, Oct. 17

(Eagle News) — Work in government offices on Tuesday, Oct. 17, has been suspended. It was Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea who made the announcement. The Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide is set to hold a transport strike on its second day on that day.

Several schools start “no classes” today

Although the class suspension as per the declarations of the Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education would start on Tuesday, November 17, several schools already declared “no classes” starting Monday in order to spare their students from the heavy traffic that will result from the security protocols implemented for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
