MMDA advises public to undergo rescue training

4.1 magnitude quake hits Baguio City

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake hit Baguio City Tuesday morning (Feb. 24, 2015), according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Based on the seismic data recorded by Phivolcs, the quake was recorded at 7:14 a.m.  The quake’s epicenter was 13 kilometers south and 17 degrees east of Baguio City. According to radio reports, the quake surprised many residents and sent some of them, including students, rushing out into the streets.  (Eagle News Service)

Earthquake shakes MM, Batangas, Eastern Samar

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has recorded a 5.0 magnitude at 22 kilometers southwest of Nasugbu town early 12:09 am. An aftershock was felt in parts of Metro Manila as well. The tectonic quake had a depth of 109 kilometers, felt in various parts of the metro, particularly in Muntinlupa and Quezon City. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology assured the public that there is no possibility of a tsunami occurring in the Philippines after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake hit eastern New Zealand.
