Duterte signed the appointment of Ronald Gian Cardema as chair of the NYC on Aug. 23. He also appointed lawyer Alexis Lumbatan as ERC member. Lumbatan replaces Gloria Victoria Taruc, who retired on July 10. Lumbatan’s term will end in July 2025.

QUEZON City, Philippines – The Energy Regulation Commission has ordered the Manila Electric Corp. to refund around Php 7 billion in supposed overcharges to consumers. Meralco customers are set to receive a 75-centavo refund for every kilowatt-hour as a result. The ERC said this will take effect in June and July.
